To best assist the set up and use of the iPad, students and families are encouraged to access the help information found in the
Apple support site. Apple has produced a number of manuals, how-to documents and videos to assist users with their device. Below are links to specific documents and areas of the
Apple support site together with College specific information to assist families. Telephone assistance is also available through Apple on 1300 321 456 (in Australia).
College ICT support
Students will be able to access College IT support in H Block for assistance with iPads. This will be limited to help with setup of the iPad to access the College network together with additional advice and support where appropriate. Parents are responsible for the repair of damaged BYO iPad devices.
College IT support will enable all devices to access the college Wi-Fi network during the first two weeks of Term 1.
Important tips
Parents are encouraged to set up and maintain an Australian iTunes account on behalf of students. It is recommended that you do this without using your credit card. Follow the instructions for
setting up an account without a credit card.
Ensure you are aware of the data you are using at all times. When purchasing and downloading apps, books etc. it is important to check the size of the app (found in the details section prior to download) before proceeding.
Know your data limits for home Wi-Fi networks. If a monthly data limit is, for example, 2Gb, this may be used quickly when doing large amounts of downloads.
Ensure password or network key protection is enabled on home and mobile Wi-Fi networks.
Set privacy and parental restrictions with passcode protection.
Ensure the passcode is set on the iPad so others may not access it.
Turn the Bluetooth function off in the Settings when not in use to save power.
