Pétanque Sub-Committee

Chair: Anthony Marino
Secretary: Clement Légé
Vice Chair: Gerald Iannone

At the heart of our mission lies a passionate commitment to fostering a vibrant Pétanque community within our school grounds and beyond. Rooted in our dedication to creating a welcoming and inclusive space, the Pétanque Sub-Committee is driven by a vision to build a terrain de pétanque from scratch, reflecting the unique character and spirit of our school community.

Our mission is two-fold:

To Create a Sustainable and Engaging Pétanque Facility

We aim to design and construct a high-quality Pétanque terrain that not only meets the standards of the sport but also serves as a premier event space and tournament venue. Through careful planning and resourceful execution, we will maximise the use of available space to create a facility that is accessible, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, attracting esteemed tournaments and showcasing the skill and camaraderie of Pétanque enthusiasts worldwide.

To Cultivate a Culture of Participation, Inclusivity, and French Heritage

Beyond physical infrastructure, our mission extends to cultivating a culture of participation, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among all members of our school community and visitors alike. Through organised events, workshops, and educational initiatives, we will provide opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to learn, play, and connect through the shared passion for Pétanque. By promoting inclusivity and respect, we aim to instil values of teamwork, perseverance, and fair play both on and off the terrain, while also celebrating the essence of French culture and hospitality. Hosting Pétanque events at the school will also help to increase visibility and promote the growth of our French Bilingual Program.

In pursuit of our vision for a vibrant Pétanque community that enhances the lives of all involved, the Pétanque Sub-Committee operates with unwavering dedication to our CARES values: Cooperation, Achievement, Respect, Enthusiasm, and Safety. We are driven by a commitment to excellence and guided by the principles of collaboration, innovation, and integrity.

French Bilingual Sub-Committee

Chair: Claudia Boitano
Secretary: Alana Hauguel
Vice Chair: Sandra Delpeyrou

Our aim is to create a vibrant and welcoming community dedicated to enriching and advancing the French Bilingual Programme. By fostering communication channels between the school and parents/caregivers, we work to promote cultural diversity while advocating for inclusivity and active engagement.

Pick of the Crop Program Coordinator: Megan Urquhart

The Nourish to Flourish Working Group is dedicated to promoting holistic well-being and healthy growth within our school and the wider community. Recent initiatives include Fresh Fruit Fridays and the Pick of the Crop program at Whites Hill State College. Our goal is to enhance the health of all students at WHSC, and we will continually seek innovative ways to support their well-being.

We invite anyone interested in participating in this group or who has ideas to contribute to email the P&C at pandc@whiteshillsc.eq.edu.au.

Café Cart Working Group

Program Leader & Barista Mentor: Alexandre Fontana
Project Strategist & Development Advisor: Siobhán Lambert
Business Implementation Manager: Angela Di Maggio

The Café Cart Working Group is spearheading an exciting initiative to establish a café and mobile coffee cart at Whites Hill State College. This project is designed to enhance student engagement by offering practical training in barista skills, customer service, and business management, while also generating revenue for the school. The café cart will be a long-term asset, eliminating the need to hire external vendors for school events and community gatherings.

Once operational, the café cart will provide students with valuable hands-on experience, equipping them with skills that will boost their future career prospects.

Currently, we are in the process of securing financial resources to launch the program and make this initiative a reality.

Preloved Uniforms Working Group

Committee Advisor: Siobhán Lambert
Operations Manager: Angela Di Maggio

The members of the Preloved Uniforms Working Group have launched the WHSC Buy, Swap or Sell Pre-Loved Uniforms & Supplies Group. This initiative creates a dedicated online platform on Facebook for the Whites Hill State College community to buy, sell, or swap second-hand school uniforms and educational supplies.

Purpose and Benefits
The WHSC Buy, Swap or Sell Pre-Loved Uniforms & Supplies Group is a valuable resource for parents and students, enhancing the offerings of the existing WHSC Uniform Shop. One of the key benefits of this group is that it allows community members to engage in trading without the need to wait for designated sale days or depend on volunteers to run events. This convenience ensures that families can access school uniforms and supplies whenever they need them.

By participating in this group, you're not only supporting fellow families in our community but also contributing to sustainability efforts by ensuring that items are reused.

What You Can Swap or Sell
In addition to school uniforms, members are encouraged to exchange items for activity days, such as sports days and costume days. The group also welcomes the swapping of school gear, including textbooks, stationery, and sports equipment.

How to Get Involved
Members are invited to share available items for swap or request specific items they may need. Participation in this group fosters community spirit and resourcefulness among families at WHSC.

Important Note
The WHSC Uniform Shop offers second-hand uniforms during its regular operating hours. For inquiries, please visit the WHSC Uniform Shop or contact the shop at (07) 39008325.

Join Us
To start trading, visit our Facebook group here: WHSC Buy, Swap or Sell Pre-Loved Uniforms & Supplies Group.

We encourage all members to review the group guidelines to ensure smooth and effective trading within our community.

Thank you for supporting our school and contributing to a sustainable future!

Parent Representatives

Exciting news is on the way - stay tuned!

Become a Parent Representative and be the voice for your child’s class! This important role bridges the gap between parents, teachers, the school, and the P&C, ensuring that vital updates are shared, and a supportive classroom community is fostered. Many parents are already working together through informal WhatsApp or Facebook groups, and we aim to enhance these connections by creating an official Parent Representative network that utilises these channels.

This is a fantastic opportunity to stay engaged, meet other parents, and actively contribute to our school community. We’ll be providing more details on how you can get involved soon.
