Jiwon and Jay are part of the International Student Program at Whites Hill State College. They are skipping champions. The two students were introduced to the sport of Rope Skipping by their class teacher Ms Mandy Anderson last year. Since then they have mastered many skills and will compete in the Queensland championships in September. The boys arrived in Australia in 2018 with very limited English. Through the sport, their confidence and language ability have improved.
Their coach, Luke Boon, describes Rope Skipping as an 'extreme and creative sport'. He is extremely proud of Jay and Jiwon. He describes them as extremely talented and hard working. Their passion for the sport sees them coaching other students during the lunch breaks.
Recently on Secondary Assembly our students were given a special treat as Jiwon and Jay performed some of their awesome techniques. Thanks boys – great job! We are very proud of you!
