Homestay program
Whites Hill State College International Student Homestay Coordinator organizes homestays for students. Each prospective Australian family is interviewed and visited at their home. Students can experience life within an Australian family while they study.
Homestay families
All of our Homestay families are very friendly people and enjoy having students from other countries live with them. International students have the opportunity to develop life-long friendships with their Host family. Many of these families have their own children studying at Whites Hill State College. International students are included in the family, often having the opportunity to be involved in many cultural activities e.g. camping, BBQs, fishing, going to the movies and eating out. Staying with an Australian family is a warm, friendly and safe experience and one which students really enjoy.
Pastoral Care
Whites Hill State College enjoys a family atmosphere which is very safe and caring. The College places a great emphasis on looking after all students in the school. Students attend a Form class (or group meeting) every morning. Notices are read out and the Form teacher is available to discuss any problems.
International Students also have access to the International Student Welfare Officer (Mr Terry Wan) for school specific matters including: timetables, exam support as well as general personal concerns. For concerns with Homestay, students may contact Mrs Anne Keenan, the Homestay Coordinator.
